Prof. John Blunt - Rapid Dereplication of Bioactive Extracts

posted Oct 23, 2012, 11:10 AM by Craig Milling
Dec, 2008 - Emeritus Professor John Blunt is recently retired as co-leader (with Murray H G Munro) of the Marine Chemistry group at the University of Canterbury. The focus of this group is on the isolation and characterization of novel biologically-active metabolites from marine invertebrates and fungi. Once identified, the compounds are subjected to chemical modifications to establish structure-activity relationships. Professors Blunt and Munro have developed and maintained a bibliographic database (MarinLit and AntiMarin) of the marine natural products literature. In this e-seminar Dr. Blunt reports on his research and specifically the incorporation of NMR analysis into the process of dereplication.
